Baptism is an important step a person’s Christian journey. It serves as a rite of initiation into the Christian community and is a shared responsibility of the baptismal candidate, their parents and/or sponsors, and the faith community surrounding them for the celebration.
When we present people (adults or children alike) for Baptism are saying: We are striving to live the Christian faith and to do so within the community of Christ’s followers. As witnesses to the Baptism, the congregation promises to pray for and support the candidate in the promises being made.
Baptisms are administered as part of the regular Sunday worship service. Prior to the baptism parents of children or candidates themselves meet with the Parish Priest to look at the service, to hear some helpful ideas on Christian upbringing in the home, and to have their questions answered.
If you have questions or wish to arrange an appointment, please call the church office at 613-692-2082.
Confirmation marks the point in the Christian journey at which you affirm for yourself the faith into which you have been baptized and your intention to live a life of committed discipleship. This affirmation is confirmed through prayer and the laying on of hands by the confirming bishop. The Church also asks God to give you power through the Holy Spirit to enable you to live in the way of Jesus.
Periodically, the Rector conducts classes for those intending to be confirmed. If you wish to make this commitment, please contact the parish priest through the church office at 613-692-2082.
