Women’s Prayer Group –
Meet Monday September 16th from 7:00-7:45pm upstairs in the church.
New members are welcome to join any time as we practice “centering prayer”, a simple but structured way of inward silent praying that consents to God’s presence and activity within the believer. 

First Contact video series
St. James Anglican Church, Manotick is hosting the First Contact video series and talking circles. The series takes six Canadians on a 28 day exploration of Indigenous Canada.
September 22, October 6, October 20 (12 to 1:30p.m.).
Light refreshments will be served. Free will offering in support of the Odawa Native Friendship Centre.

 Apple Crisps
ACW will again be making apple crisps this year to sell.
You could use them for Thanksgiving or just something yummy for you.  They will be available for sale on Saturday October 12 at 9am in Tomkins Hall.  If you would like to pre-order please call Sam in the office at 613-692-2082.

Barn Board Painting – 2 pm on Saturday October 26 
Come out and have some fun stencilling and painting. 
No experience is necessary.
Perfect timing for Christmas gifts or maybe a wedding or shower.
You can create signs, trays, pillows even a doormat. 
Price varies on what you choose to do.

Treasurer at St. James Anglican Church Manotick

St. James is looking for a new Treasurer! Are you interested?

The Requirements:

  • Bookkeeping skills required.  Experience with charity bookkeeping, and fund accounting, is an asset.
  • Professional designation not required, although would be very helpful.
  • Ability to work independently, and within groups, to meet scheduled deadlines.
  • Familiarity with a small business windows-based accounting software would be helpful (i.e. Quicken, Sage 50, Simply Accounting, etc.).  Familiarity with Mind Your Own Business (MYOB) software is an asset.  Training on MYOB software is provided.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office (ie. Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.) is required.
  • Access to a computer/iPad/iPhone for email retrieval while away from the Parish office.
  • Ability to attend two weeknight meetings per month, of approximately 90 minutes each, and one Vestry meeting per year of approximately two hours.
  • Approximately 5-10 hours per month of posting cash receipts, preparing cheques, reconciling bank accounts, and preparing operating and fund financial statements.  Some of this can be done remotely, from your home, on your personal computer.
  • Ability to assist the Parish Auditor with the preparation of the year-end file and annual financial statements in January and early February for the annual Vestry meeting in late February.
  • Treasurer is responsible for all mandatory filing requirements. (Training to be provided).
